Lenovo Boot problem Hey guys so this morning when I turned on my laptop it froze and did not show the start menu or any icons, just the wallpaper. Also, if you're dual-booting with Windows, and if it's booting in EFI mode, installing Linux in BIOS mode will almost certainly create more problems
After installing openSUSE, the system was not able to boot. But you can change the “boot order” so it looks elsewhere – such as the CD/DVD drive or USB drive – for its start-up data. I have tried several bootable disks and none of them work yet those same disks boot up my other computer so I don't think it's bad disks. REMOVE BIOS PASSWORD LENOVO THINKCENTRE WINDOWS
Recently, a Lenovo B50 laptop came into my hands which had a Windows boot issue. In the Boot Menu screen, select the ATAPI CD option and hit Enter. Then select 'boot manager' to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media". I saw a "Welcome to grub" (or something similar) for a second, and then nothing but a blank screen. 
When I start the laptop, I get these options: "BOOT MENU. In many cases, especially with floppy disks, this is done by default.
Help! I have problem with my Lenovo G400 and I decided to do restore factory but I don’t have a back up or dvd so I decided to restore it using my friends back up for his ACER. The other thing to try is to disable modesetting on the kernel line, to see if that gets you any further Arch + dwm As well, they can diagnose and fix a problem with your system including Lenovo laptop stuck on Lenovo screen/Lenovo stuck on Welcome screen Windows 10/Lenovo desktop stuck on Lenovo screen and more. To recap the link above - it appears as though Lenovo may have a "feature" in their firmware which checks for a UEFI Boot Manager named "Windows Boot Manager" or "Red Hat Enterprise Linux" and fails to boot unless one of the two is present. My favorite trick doesn’t work since you can’t pull the battery.
